Colfarm Sodium Butyrate is food for special medical purposes intended for adults and children aged 7 years and over. It contains sodium butyrate in the form of prolonged-release micro-pellets, enclosed in cellulose capsules that are resistant to stomach acid.
The butyric acid contained in the capsules is a short-chain fatty acid which serves as an energy material for the intestinal epithelium and has a beneficial effect on the digestive system.
Recommended as part of dietary management of the following conditions:
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Stomach ache and bloating
- For the treatment of acute diarrhoea of various causes
- Persistent constipation
- Inflammatory bowel diseases
- Gut microbiota dysbiosis, including during and after an antibiotic therapy
It should be taken under medical supervision. The duration of use should be agreed with your doctor. This product is not intended for parenteral use. This product is not nutritionally complete. Not suitable for use as the sole source of nutrition. Do not use this product unless a doctor has advised you to do so. Do not use in children or in people with swallowing difficulties, or when swallowing is difficult. If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the product’s ingredients, you should stop using it.
